De Capestang à Paderborn

Terrace in Capestang - Beg. June 2026

It’s official now, “Zora and” I bought an old house in Capestang. It’s called the Vigneronne. It is very old and needs a bit of work but I am so excited and ready to create with old walls. I love old stone buildings and told my brother Boris - half jokingly - that we will not be buying all the old houses we see. Is there a name for such crazy people who want to ‘save’ all old buildings from decrepitude?

I have named Boris (see his photo/note organizing the electrical mess) the master of operations at the Vigneronne, he will do all the work with my help and the help of a few local builders and craftspeople, and new friends in the community. I love the house Boris has partially built in Montels with his ex. Maud. If you come visit us from afar, you have a place to stay - room and board actually - in exchange of your handy work!

We are making this whole project fun and taking our time so we don’t burn out.

Today I am traveling with a friend in Paderborn, Germany, we are headed to Reiner’s birthday party near Fulda. Brian, Zora and I went to Reiner’s birthday party in the same place ten years ago and we had a lot of fun. We are getting older Reiner, you might have to start hosting these yearly and not every decade! ;)

I have been thinking - excitingly - a lot more about hosting my Spring Fiber Arts Workshop and I am so grateful for y’all’s feedback. I enjoy talking to friends about it locally also and getting their input. Some of you have asked me about taking part in a workshop with your children so I have decided to host a second workshop during some of the children’s Spring 2027 holidays. The dates are slowly concretizing. Stay tuned.

The first picture is market time on the square, a Wednesday in Capestang where we will be able to walk to during the workshop.

It is cold and rainy in Paderborn and hot in Capestang. My mom wishes to be in my place right now and I do in hers. In July I will take a trip to Germany with her. Hopefully by then the temperatures will please us both.

I also wish Zora to come with us but she seems to only have eyes for her cousins - and local friends - right now and the pool that is in full swing in Montels. She and I are still talking about a trip to Colorado. That is shaping up to be the first two weeks in August.

So lots of traveling still in my future and also some nice downtime in Capestang a tourist destination that makes us feel on vacation in our own town. The two last weeks of August we are planning some camping around this beautiful area.

When you come visit or take part in one of my Fiber Arts workshops I will have so many places to show off.
