Slow down and discover a part of the south of France whilst playing with Fiber Arts.

Join Mélina Be and her mom Myriam on this seven-day journey and learn to weave, wet felt, sew and embroider. Myriam is a quilter, knitter and she crochets.

You will work in Mélina’s house studio located in Montels, south of France. Twenty minutes from the Mediterranean.

Discover the beautiful area around Capestang where Melina lives, and Montels where the workshop will take place.

You will make a pillow or wall hangings with these four fiber arts techniques.

The first day will be an orientation. We will walk around Capestang, a beautiful town - seven minutes from Montels - with a square surrounded by trees, a canal to walk along and more.

Day two, we will meet at the studio at 10 am and start on our tapestry weaving creation.

Day three, you will learn to wet felt. If the weather is nice we will do this outside as we will play with fiber, water and soap.

Day four, we will sew nine patches of fabric that you will pick amongst Mélina’s large collection of fabrics from all over the world.

Day five, we will learn to embroider on a simple square of white, black or colored fabric of your choice. You can already think about a design you may have wanted to or may want to embroider. Start drawing now.

Day six we will put together our pillow or finish our separate art pieces from 10 am to 4 pm like every day in the studio that we will be creating.

On day seven you will have a small finished project and show and tell celebration.

Every day, in the late afternoons into the evening we will visit the sea, special villages and cities in the Occitanie region. These include but won’t all be visited during our time together: Minerve,

We recommend you come a day or two early to adjust to jet lag. This is also a good time to swop accomodation depending on your needs and preferences before the workshop starts.

What is included:

6 nights in a private room at my studio, John’s studio or the Vigneronne. On a first pay, first choice basis.

All lunches and dinners.

Not included:

Airfare to and from Beziers or Narbonne. We will pick you up in either one of those two cities. 25 minutes from Capestang. If you fly into Marseille, Toulouse or Barcelona - recommended as they are direct or only one layover flights from Denver or other major US cities. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help with coordinating your flights. Take a train from those big cities to Narbonne or Beziers.
