Pyrenees
Zora and I just drove back to my parents’ house from a week long hike in the Pyrenees with dear friends and family. We stopped a day at Domi’s in Caridan, near Tillac and Marciac where we dropped Brian off. We were going to stay with Domi four more days after a short visit before the hike but my need to be there for my mom was too great and Zora chose to join me. We usually spend a large part of the summer at my folks’ house anyway and September 1st Zora starts school making it another good reason to spend time in our beloved Branle Casaque, between Digoin (71) and Le Donjon (03). The magical place I grew up at.
Needless to say my mom was thrilled as we arrived by surprise like my sister and brother did a couple of weeks ago for our much needed family pow wow. My dad is gone a couple of days a week and my mom has big ups and downs from having to pack up and leave this place that she has built with him over the last fourty five years. I was almost two when they settled here to “live like gods in France” (German saying) and raise a family.
Between September 15 and November 15 my mom will leave to settle in their village house in Saint Chinian, thirty minutes from Montels where we will live for a year - to start with. Though some might say this separation should be no surprise, it is very hard for both of them in different ways. The process of moving all her belongings is very hard for my mom. I will try to remind her that letting go and trying to detach from material things can be helpful and a good thing. When I say this I am reminded of our major move and how I may not have done the best job at this myself.
The week of hiking in the Pyrenees was an amazing time for me. I got to reconnect with long time friends, to rejoice at the idea that I will see some close friends and family more often. Pauline and I are planning a weekend getaway trip - just the two of us - near Clermont or Tour, closer to her as my schedule is still flexible at the moment. We got to see some amazing sceneries, very high mountain tops, rocky trails, blue and green lakes, large prairies with cattle and sheep, muddy terrains, water falls,… all this while talking to people that are close to my heart.
We talked of our new home that has been so beautifully built by my brother, his ex. and the children, about hardships in my mom and her sister’s family, about so many things that make us laugh, cry and every feeling in between. What intense moments of connection between body and mind.
Mamie just woke up and my mom is at her reiki cession so I will say goodbye for now, have breakfast with her. Let’s stay connected! I would love to hear what is going on in your life.
