Beading with my old hippie friends
I’m very inspired by my latest beaded earring series. I just created them during our spring break trip to Gardener, CO. My old hippie friends who are now almost 80 and 90 years old live there in a commune called Libre that they started over 55 years ago. They are our elders that we like to take care of. Libre is in Huerfano County - which means orphan. It is such a beautiful and also impoverished place. It is rich in nature, almost 9,000 feet high, very dry and got a lot of snow while we were there. It was so nice to be snowed in! We stayed in a geodesic dome that our friend built in the 70’s, with a big studio where we slept, which was kind of like glamping.
I was given lots of beads, and also bought some second-hand beads to make this latest series of earrings. It was a lot of fun to obsessively create them!
#gone beading!, #beading with a view!
