A Memorial Day

My house studio, currently a packing station.

The house is a mess. The home studio is a great packing space. We are leaving June 13th. Our twenty foot container is coming June 9th and leaving June 10th. We are embarking on a new adventure to France, near Béziers where my brother lives. We are going to rent his house. Zora will be close to her cousins Soan (10) and Eli (14).

There is an upstairs in the house and a loft area - before you get to the bedrooms - that is where I plan on setting up my loom. I am already looking forward to weaving a new series. Blankets I think but we will see what manifests itself.

We are excited to explore that part of the country and part of Spain as we will live an hour and a half from the Spanish border. If you come to France or that part of the country please come visit us and my new studio.

The current phase of going through all our belongings and packing what we want to keep and selling or giving away the rest is no small task. Especially as we are down to the wire. In less than three weeks we take off.

It’s bittersweet and we will miss this Fort Collins community. I will have been here on and off for 26 years in August. Brian closer to 30 years. Zora is twelve and a half and I think it will be such a great experience for her to live in another country for a while. How long, we don’t know but this is not a temporary move!

Using yarn and fabric to pack, so far I have not used a single piece of bubble wrap and I have packed probably 40 boxes already. I don’t know what that tells you? My environmental concerns or the quantity of yarn and fabric that I own? Or both.

Going back to my packing now. I will try to blog monthly about my small business in France and our life there. My goal is to leave Meta so IG, FB and WhatsApp. I am planning to keep this website and the email address linked to it, to be more active on Blue Sky, to use Signal and snail mail! Let’s keep in touch.
